Large quantities of cannabis have been seized at two locations in Dorset.

Five cannabis plants were seized from a property in Maiden Newton on Thursday.

While carrying out local enquiries, officers from the Dorchester Neighbourhood Policing Team spotted five the plants growing in the back garden of a house.

Police seized the plants and they are now making enquiries into the suspected cultivation of cannabis.

No arrests have been made at this time.

On Wednesday, North Dorset Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted a warrant at property in Nyland.

Officers found and seized a 'substantial' number of cannabis plants at various stages of growth from the address.

The cannabis was being grown using hydroponics equipment with timer switches.

A large quantity of cash was also seized and a 56-year-old man is assisting officers with the investigation.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We are grateful for any information to help identify those suspected of being involved in the drug supply chain.

"We will always act on information about alleged drug misuse and dealing and we would encourage anyone with information about such activity in their area to contact us."
