Well, what a shocker.

Richard Drax MP (September 28) talking 'common sense'.

That immigration needs to be controlled. He's right!

As Mr Drax quite rightly points out, no country can allow uncontrolled immigration. Let alone, the many thousands of people of various nationalities who slip under the sweeping searchlights of the UK's lack lustre border control apparently at will.

As if an open door is always open to every economic chancer who wants to try his or her luck at making complete fools of us all.

It is blindingly obvious that allowing millions of migrants entry into the UK – notwithstanding the thousands of illegal migrants and questionable 'refugees' that enter the UK every year, is a societal and economic recipe for an impending disaster.

The 'freedom of movement' campaign is misguided and without any rational conclusion.

Of course, the EU is partly to blame for this calamity.

Besides, the UK is already full up. We don't need any more migrants whose only modus operandi in arriving here, is to earn a bit more cash than they would have done if they'd remained in their own countries.

And doing so, are happy to work for a weekly wage that many UK people wouldn't get out of bed each day for.

No, it's not in any 'nation's best interest' to turn a blind eye to uncontrolled immigration. Not only does it depress wages, but more importantly, it causes unrest amongst the general populace and sows the seeds for the voting public to turn to the politics of the far right or the far left to appease their disquiet. And that can, and does sometimes, lead to floods of tears.
