A man has been banned from entering areas of Bridport for 12 months following anti-social behaviour which 'caused considerable concern among the local community'.

Joshua Matthew Tiffin, aged 30, was handed a Criminal Behaviour Order (BHO) after appearing at Weymouth Magistrates' Court.

Tiffin, of Loders, had been sentenced to 10 weeks in prison at the same court on Thursday, April 19 after admitting an offence of taking a vehicle without the owner's consent and being found guilty of four charges of possessing a bladed article in a public place and an offence of theft.

Evidence presented to the court from officers applying for the CBO showed Tiffin had demonstrated a history of alcohol-related and other anti-social behaviour that had caused concern to members of the public.

The CBO will run until October, 4 2019, and states that Tiffin must not:

  • Enter any area of exclusion as detailed on the attached maps, unless attending pre-arranged meetings or appointments.
  • Enter any premises or shop to which he has been barred.
  • Enter Castle Square in Bridport.
  • Enter Dr Roberts Close in Bridport.
  • Enter any licensed premises in Bridport from which he has been barred.

Neighbourhood Inspector, Neil Wood, of Bridport Police, said: "Joshua Tiffin's repeated offending and anti-social behaviour has caused considerable concern among the local community and resulted in a considerable drain on police resources.

"Our officers have worked hard to secure this order that will help to ensure he no longer causes issues for the Bridport community and action can be taken against him immediately if he is found in breach of the terms.

"We will continue to take action to target repeat offenders whose behaviour has such an impact on local residents and we will respond to any concerns raised by members of the public."
