Members of Weymouth Sailing Club were blessed by excellent conditions for the Whyboats YCW Weymouth Regatta.

A total of 36 yachts from along the south coast competed in the competition, with a good variety of courses keeping competitors in four different classes busy.

The weekend kicked off on Friday with the annual fancy dress tender races across the harbour, which was followed by a barbecue at the sailing club.

On Saturday, three races took place with competition between each class proving close.

In the evening, the sailing club hosted the daily prizegiving and provided a slap-up meal to competitors and their families, which was accompanied with beer from sponsors Ringwood Brewery.

Slightly windy conditions and sunshine created an exciting buzz on the Sunday, with all still to play for on day two.

The final prizegiving was held at the Royal Dorset Yacht Club, and started with a presentation to all crew under 18.

The dates for next year's regatta have been set, with the club set to compete on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15 2019.
