Police are urging social media users not to panic over messages claiming their Facebook account has been cloned.

Dorset Police’s cyber crime unit says Facebook has not seen a spike in cloned accounts according to an online article. The messages have allegedly been fuelled by a recent security breach in which nearly 50 million accounts were compromised.

A police spokesman said: “On the off chance your account has been cloned, of course, you can report this to Facebook directly by clicking the three little dots on the offending accounts cover photo.”
