A concert will be held tomorrow to raise money for Home Start West Dorset.

Kate Beatt, a Weymouth musician, is organising Party Pieces Variety Concert to raise money for the charity which is in need of funding.

She said: “My mum is a trustee for the charity, and I know that despite all the amazing work they do with families across West Dorset, the demand for the service far outstrips the funding they can raise.”

The concert will feature different acts, with performers aged from nine to over 65.

Ms Beatt added: “I wanted it to be very much a family event, reflecting Home Start’s focus on helping families with a child under five.”

Ms Beatt works as an equine behaviourist and is also a part-time singer. She will be duetting on the night with Heidi Jarrett. Also performing will be Colin Howard, a well- known tenor soloist; Alastair Simpson, in the role of Master of Ceremonies, as well as doing some monologues; a children’s dance troupe; a young harpist; pianists; poetry performers and other child soloists.

Entry is free along with a buffet which will be provided during the concert’s interval.

Ms Beatt said: “There will be a collection at the end of the evening, and we really want every single penny that we raise to go to Home Start West Dorset.’

She added: “We’re hoping for up to 200 people to come along and enjoy the event – and show their appreciation by donating.”

The concert will be held in Sunninghill Community Hall in Dorchester on Saturday, October 13 at 7pm. For more information call Home Start West Dorset on 01305 265072.
