LAST month, we (Megan and Erin) went on a wonderful trip to Charmouth, along with our fellow Year 6 pupils at St George's Primary School.

Charmouth is just two miles from Lyme Regis on the famous Jurassic Coast.

It is a glorious and pleasant seaside village set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a wonderful beach well-known for fossils.

The first thing we did when we arrived in Charmouth was look round the Charmouth Heritage Centre.

The best part was the extremely large Ammonite which can be found in the Sea Life Room. Next we were taught about all the unique fossils from 245 million years ago - including belemnites, ammonites among others.

Exploring the Sea Life Room and looking at all the history of Charmouth was Megan’s favourite part of the trip.

Afterwards we watched a short educational film about the history of the Jurassic Coast.

After our wonderful tour around the Heritage Centre we went out onto the beach to do some fossil hunting of our own.

We found loads of small belemnites which we were allowed to take home but only a few of us were able to find an ammonite.

This was Erin’s favourite part of the trip, when we were walking along the beach finding fossils.

After our wonderful and tiring walk along the beach we all sat down and eat our lunch while staring at the glistening sapphire sky.
