A couple from Weymouth will star in a popular daytime TV show.

Peter and Sarah Healey of Driftwood B&B will appear on Channel 4’s Four in a Bed during October half term.

The couple, who are fans of the show, were approached by its production team and said they couldn’t refuse a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity.’

Mr Healey explained: “We got approached by them, at first we thought it was a friend setting us up. They said they always get hundreds of applicants, but they keep a look out for different things. That’s when they came across us who fitted in with what they were looking for.

“Our B&B is a little bit quirkier and different to other hotels. It’s slightly funkier than the typical seaside establishment. We said to each other this is a once in a lifetime opportunity we will never be asked to do it again, so we went for it.”

As fans of the show, Mr Healey said: “We usually end up shouting at the TV when people try to pick faults for the sake of it when actually what’s happened is quite a normal thing. Before we agreed to go on the show, we said to each other we would do it honestly and be ourselves with no backhanded stuff. We voted as if there was no film crew.”

As part of the show, the contestants take their guests for an afternoon of entertainment and an evening meal.

Although Mr Healey couldn’t tell the Echo where they went in Weymouth, he said: “We showcased something that represents tourism in Weymouth and is a traditional family thing to do. In the evening we took them to a restaurant which is by far the number one restaurant our guests enjoy.”

Mr Healey added: “We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and met wonderful people along the way and had some great adventures.”

Although the upcoming episodes were filmed earlier this year, the couple are yet to see any footage.

Mr Healey explained: “We’re nervous in a positive way because we haven’t seen it yet. But it’s all in the editing.”

He joked: “I’m trying to get the Rendezvous to screen it like they did for the World Cup.”

Mr and Mrs Healey will star on Four in a Bed from Monday, October 22 to Friday, October 26. The episode filmed in Weymouth will be shown on Wednesday, October 24. The show will start at 5pm.
