HAVE any of your readers thoughts on the future?

I’m sure it isn’t just me that worries and wonders in which direction Dorchester will take, as we have plans awaiting for permission or otherwise on approximately 10,000 houses, granted some are at Crossways and Charminster, but if permission is granted on the homes being built, they and the would-be residents will have an impact on Dorchester in respect of medical facilities for one thing.

The hospitals in Dorset are at present debating which facilities will be provided in various locations with Bournemouth possibly providing the bulk of emergency care.

Great if you live on the doorstep but not good in the summer or winter months with the roads either clogged with traffic or snow and ice and patients travelling from north, west and south of the county to get that life saving care many of which are country roads, or one lane highways and a million plus will go no way to mending existing roads.

GP surgeries are overwhelmed now if waiting for a month for an appointment has anything to do with it and the planners and council still want to build more houses which, if the recent trend is anything to go by, will be for retirees and not those of need.

Sure some affordable housing will be on the plans but ask yourself – affordable to whom, and will there be an excuse at the end of the day as to why they haven’t been incorporated?

Probably, and we will continue with the same scenario –more houses but not what is needed and councillors and planners will wave their arms in the air and say there is little they can do to stop this process.

We have meetings and our views are sought but for what?

The above will continue until pennies are dropped and suddenly, like the Fairfield site, the market and parking is needed and not a retail outlet that doesn’t exist.

How about our roads being updated to cope, many motorist are now enduring misery from the gas suppliers relaying new pipes on the Bridport Road and because of the position of the work there is no alternative but to sit in traffic at peak times.

Please someone take note of the chaos you are causing and realise no is a small word with a big impact, so which part of no are you having difficulty with?

What else do you want future generations to thank you for as you have given them plastic, rubbish which is both the scourge of our land and oceans
