As autumn draws in and the town goes into semi-hibernation there’s one lingering reminder of the summer, the council’s ridiculous extended dog restrictions.

The beach has been cleared of its summer attractions, daily beach cleaning ended, the RNLI lifeguards gone away and the restriction on power boats coming into the beach ceased.

Sixty-three per cent of the public asked for no change to the restrictions yet the council went ahead and once again we have empty beaches during October, whilst Poole and Bournemouth are packed with families walking dogs.

If the beaches are full of children as claimed by certain councillors trying to justify the ban, why are there no lifeguards, why can jet skis now speed along the beach and why isn’t the beach cleaned?

It’s time to revert back to the May to September times that worked for years. Businesses from guest houses to cafes are losing trade.
