YEOVIL TOWN 1

Gaylor 34

BRISTOL CITY 2

Graham 33, 73

YEOVIL Town Ladies were on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline for the third match in a row as Bristol City snatched three points at the Clayson Stadium.

Close to 600 people turned out to support the Glovers and were treated to an entertaining match on derby day but a Lucy Graham double meant the fans were denied the chance to see Yeovil pick up their first point of the Super League season.

It was a relatively cagey start to the match with both teams struggling to get a foothold in the game.

Nicola Cousins was a stalwart in defence and City could have taken the lead after 16 minutes, had it not been for her goal-line clearance.

The game finally came to life on 33 minutes when Poppy Pattinson’s ball across the box found Lucy Graham who slide the ball home.

But there was barely time to catch breath before the home side found an equaliser.

Straight from the kick-off, Amber Gaylor latched on to a loose ball and took a touch before firing home from close range.

It was Yeovil’s first goal at the Clayson Stadium and it really fired up the home side who then looked the more likely before the break.

On the hour mark, Yeovil’s celebrations were cruelly cut short when the linesman ruled Olivia Fergusson’s header out for offside.

Fergusson had headed home from close range but it was not to be Yeovil’s second goal of the match.

The Glovers continued to press but 13 minutes later, it was to be more heartbreak for Yeovil.

The Glovers switched off at the back and Graham took full advantage and rose highest to give City the lead again.

As the match was drawing to an end, Yeovil huffed and puffed but struggled to create clear-cut chances. It was to be another close match which ended in defeat.

It now means next week’s visit to Brighton is crucial, with the Seagulls just one point above the Glovers, and an away win would change the look of the league table dramatically.

Yeovil then face Everton at Dorchester Town on Sunday, November 4.
