PAUL Rogers fired in a superb score of 34 points to land Came Down Golf Club’s men’s Masters competition.

To play in the tournament players have had to have won a competition at the golf club in the past 12 months and could boast a field of 48 players playing a Stableford competition played in very windy conditions that made scoring extremely difficult in the driving rain.

With the majority of the field struggling with the conditions scoring was low.

However, 10-handicapper Rogers coped well with the weather scoring five pars in the first nine holes.

The second nine holes was very challenging in the wind but with a chip in for a birdie two on the 15th hole Rogers scored 34 points two clear from Dan Turner and John Laffineur who were second and third respectively with 32 points.

At the presentation dinner that evening at the golf club, hosted by manager Nick Rodgers, all the years trophies were presented to the winning players.

Rogers received the Masters trophy from club captain Stuart Sibley after his superb efforts.
