An RNLI lifeboat station has been a hub of activity over the past month.

The crew at Lyme Regis Lifeboat station have had a busy month, with visits, food, fundraising and more taking place.

The month kicked off with a visit from fundraisers James and Belinda Richardson, who visited the station as part of their fundraising challenge.

Lyme Regis was the 208th lifeboat station the couple had visited in a Porsche 911, having started in August with the aim of raising more than £56,000 for the RNLI by visiting every RNLI lifeboat station around the whole British Isles and Ireland, finishing at Tower Lifeboat Station on the River Thames at the end of September.

James said: "We decided to do our RNLI-911 Challenge in retirement because over the years we have been incredibly impressed by the RNLI's dedication and selfless actions."

Showcasing of the station continued in to the month, as members of the volunteer crew hosted dignitaries as part of the Lyme Regis Civic Day.

The day, hosted by Lyme Regis mayor Cllr Michaela Ellis, saw 40 mayors, chairman, deputy mayors and other dignitaries from across the country invited to the town.

Notable representatives were taken on a tour of the lifeboat station, the lifeboat and the tractor, as well as enjoying a demonstration on the importance of the training and equipment required to carry out the service.

Nick Marks, volunteer lifeboat operations manager, said: "We were very happy to welcome the representatives from Dorset councils which has enabled us to highlight the contribution of our volunteers in saving lives at sea, RNLI fundraising and promoting the wider RNLI initiatives for community safety."

The busy period ended with supper.

Three fish suppers were held by volunteers in Lyme Regis raising more than £1,000 for the RNLI.

The first supper, organised by Trish Williams and Di Mattock, took place in the sailing club, and was packed with 60 diners.

With the help from the Fisherman's Wife takeaway, raised £752.

A second supper at the lifeboat station, saw Petrina Muscroft prepare a lifeboat-themed menu, and £377.50 was raised thanks to 30 diners.

The third supper took place at the Nag's Head Pub, where owners James and Rebecca De-Voisey were supported by Matt from Herbies Dino Bar.

A total of 33 tickets were sold and £200 raised.

Nick said: "I would like to thank everyone involved in any way with these delicious fund-raising events.

"Many local people and businesses contributed with great generosity."
