AMONG the latest group of Royal Navy recruits to successfully complete training at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall was 22-year-old Nathan Rodd from Portland.
He joined the Royal Navy in June and took part in an eight-week intensive course designed to teach him the basic skills he will rely upon throughout his service career.
A former pupil of Royal Manor Art College, Nathan previously worked as a stonemason. In his spare time he plays football for Easton United in the Dorset Senior League.
Nathan said: "It feels good to get this far. I hope to continue my naval career with the same determination and ambition."
As a budding engineering technician specialising in marine engineering, Nathan is now ready to embark on the next stage of his training at HMS Sultan in Hampshire.
