A VISIT to the headteacher's office has taken on a whole new dimension for pupils at a Portland school.

Southwell Primary School headteacher Stuart McLeod - an avid Dr Who fan - spent his summer holidays transforming his office door into the legendary Tardis from the BBC TV show.

And pupils are now keener than ever to pay Mr McLeod's office a visit, school secretary Geraldine Cranny said.

"We had a new Year 3 child with special needs and we wanted to create somewhere in school that was an escape for him so he could relax with his carer," she said.

Mr McLeod has even attached an authentic flashing police car light to his office Tardis'.

Miss Cranny added: "He's done it completely off his own back.

"The staff have taken it all very light-heartedly and have even brought in Dr Who memorabilia for his office.

"It's unsurprising he's done this because it's all part of his whole attitude to children and the ethos of the school.

"It's a family environment and the children love it."
