An impressive sculpture made in Dorset has a new home at prestigious Kew Gardens in London.

Simon Gudgeon, one of Britain’s leading contemporary sculptors and owner of Sculpture by the Lakes near Dorchester, made the piece 'Leaf Spirit' for his sculpture garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show last year.

It then formed part of a sculpture display at Kew Gardens last autumn and this year was part of the award winning garden ‘The Spirit of the Woods’ at RHS Malvern Spring Show.

It has now been permanently installed at Kew.

Leaf Spirit is a figurative sculpture which is said to evoke a sense of calm. It is made from imprints of leaves found at Sculpture by the Lakes.

Mr Gudgeon sculpts primarily in bronze with a diverse range of subject matter – figurative, wildlife, abstract and kinetic. He has attained worldwide recognition with exhibitions across the world including London, New York and Paris. His works is featured in important private collections including those owned by The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Alongside Leaf Spirit in Kew Gardens his sculptures are also permanently situated in several other public spaces including Hyde Park in London and the National Museum of Wildlife Art in the USA.
