A number of services have been planned for Remembrance Sunday.

Here is a round-up of some the services happening near you.

In Weymouth, Holy Trinity Church will be holding a Said Eucharist at 8am, followed by a Parish Eucharist at 10am. Members of the church will then take part in an act of remembrance at the Nothe Fort at 6.30pm.

The Prayerhouse will be holding a Sunday service as usual at 10.30am, with a segment focused on remembrance. At 2pm there will be a cream tea event attended by special guest Mark Stubbs, a former marine and Atlantic rower. There will be pre-service prayer at the pastor’s office of Weymouth Baptist Church starting at 9.15am. This will be followed by morning worship at the church from 10am to 12.30pm. The topic will be Yours is the Kingdom and Revd Peter Mockett will be speaking.

St Joseph’s Church will hold a remembrance service at 10am. The congregation will then move outside to the church’s cenotaph to pay its respects. St Mary’s Church will hold a remembrance service from 10.30am. The church has been beautifully decorated with peace doves above the church pews and there is a poppy installation outside.

St Nicholas Church and St Laurence Church will both hold services at 10.30am. A sea of poppies will be on display at St Laurence Church in Upwey on the Sunday. An exhibition of local history will be open to the public at St Nicholas Church after the service.

All Saints Church will hold its Remembrance Day service at 9.30am, there will then be a procession to the war memorial for an act of remembrance. At 11am, St Edmund’s Church will hold its service.

Weymouth Methodist Church will hold its Sunday service at 10.30am.

In Dorchester, The Storehouse Church will be holding a service at 10.30am. The guest speaker will be Pastor Richard Evans. Dorchester Baptist Church will hold a 10.30am service, with a segment focused on remembrance.

There will be a Said Eucharist at St Mary’s Church at 9am with an act of remembrance. At 4pm, there will be a Requiem Eucharist. This will be a service of Holy Communion to commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War. A choir with members from all over the benefice will sing Faure’s Requiem and the Bishop of Salisbury will preside and preach.

At St Peter’s Church there will be Holy Communion at 9.30am. St George’s Church in Fordington will hold its Holy Communion at 9.45am.

In West Stafford, St Andrew’s Church will hold its morning prayer at 10am followed by an act of remembrance.

St Mary’s Church in Winterbourne Abbas will hold an act of remembrance at 10am followed by a service of reflection and silence.The main service for the Parish of the Winterbournes will be at St Martin’s Church in Martinstown. It will start on the village green at 10.45am with an act of remembrance. It will be followed by a service in the church at 11am.
