Monkey World returns to our screens tomorrow for series 11 of Monkey Life, with the much anticipated catch up of all the rescues and daily dramas at the world’s biggest primate rescue centre.

Based at Monkey World, Dorset, the documentary follows Dr Alison Cronin MBE and the team as she rescues primates in need from around the world and rehabilitates them into groups of their own kind. At the centre, they have a safe, stable home for life.

Monkey Life follows the rescue and rehabilitation of abused and neglected primates. Many have mental as well as physical problems so the Primate Care Staff treat their individual needs until they can be reintegrated with primates of their own kind.

The programme is one of the longest running docu-soaps on TV as its former incarnation, Monkey Business, first appeared on screens in 1998.

Nicknamed by staff as 'Beast-Enders', the series won a place in the public’s hearts with its fascinating and often tragic insight into monkey and ape rescues.

With unparalleled access Monkey Worlds dedicated team are filmed dealing will medical emergencies, primate moves, births and sometimes heart-breaking decisions.

Season 11 includes the rescues of a chimpanzee for an illegal Turkish pet trade and a marmoset that was running loose on the streets of London, while back in Dorset it captures the day-to-day lives of the 260 primate residents of Monkey World.

Expect tear-jerking moments like the discovery of a slow loris called Nora who was illegally put up for sale at just three months old and scenes of redemption as two redbellied guenons are rescued from Lebanon.

A Monkey World spokesperson said: "Filmed over a year, the series takes the viewer on an emotional rollercoaster, from the woolly monkey group celebrating new arrivals, to tense rescue operations, and the teams’ sad goodbyes to old friends too."
