This stunning photograph of a misty morning at Dorset’s famous Corfe Castle is set to appear on five million National Trust member cards.

The shot, by Dorset-based photographer Brian Terrey, will adorn the cards that will be issued to all National Trust members next year.

Mr Terrey, 51, a ceramic wall and floor tiler from Poole, said: “Corfe Castle is one of my favourite spots in Dorset,

“I’ve lived here all my life and even though I’ve seen it hundreds of time I never get bored of it, even after 50 years.

“It’s steeped in history and it holds a lot of memories for me, starting when I was a child when I used to roll down the big hill.”

The winning photo, taken from West Hill late last year, beat thousands of other entries in the National Trust’s annual search to find the best pictures for their handbook and member cards.

There were more than 7,500 photos entered into the competition and the winners were chosen by a panel of five judges including gardener, writer and broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh.

A picture of Old Harry rocks by Alister Rankine was shortlisted for the member card while another shot of Corfe Castle, this time by Stu Meech, was on the National Trust Handbook image shortlist.
