A medical centre has been rated ‘good’ in its latest CQC report.

The inspection report for Lyme Regis Medical Centre in Uplyme Road recently published rated the services, which are run by Virgin Care, as ‘good’ across all five measures of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Positive feedback given in the inspection report said: “Staff involved and treated patients with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.” Feedback from patients was positive about the way staff understood their personal, cultural, social and religious needs.

Patients said they found the appointment system easy to use and that they were able to access care when they needed it. Waiting times, delays and cancellations were minimal and managed appropriately and patients with the most urgent needs had their care and treatment prioritised.

Inspectors found the practice routinely reviewed the effectiveness and appropriateness of the care it provided and staff had the information they needed to deliver safe care and treatment to patients.

The CQC also found a strong focus on continuous learning and improvement at all levels of the organisation. Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles and were encouraged and given opportunities to develop.

Alison Robinson, Lyme Regis Medical Centre Service Manager, said: “We are delighted to see the hard work of our colleagues recognised by the Care Quality Commission. We aim to provide our community with the highest possible standard of care, delivered with compassion and dedication and the report confirms that this is what inspectors found.”
