DORSET Wildlife Trust’s ‘Green Thursday’ 24-hour online shopping event will return for a second year on Thursday, November 22.

Created as a more sustainable alternative to Black Friday, profits from the event go back into conservation work in Dorset. Many of the products in the event have been sourced locally and are made with sustainability in mind.

This year DWT has created a ‘Green Box’ starter park including the refill aluminium water bottle, bamboo toothbrush, bar of Filberts honey soap and a sprout plant and grow pencil, gift boxed for £23. The luxury ‘Green Box’ includes all of the starter pack, plus a ‘Get Outdoors’ bamboo cutlery wrap and Filberts hand salve, gift boxed for £39. Each box also includes an information leaflet about how to be more sustainable.

DWT’s Retail Manager, Fiona Sansom said, “Every year in the lead up to Christmas there’s a commercial stir around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but DWT’s initiative, Green Thursday, provides a great alternative for those who want to help wildlife and the environment.” This year, we have some great new products in our online shop, such as bamboo straws and toothbrushes, as well as some favourites such as the DWT re-usable water bottle, and a brand new product for 2018 – the ‘Green Box’, filled with a selection of sustainable products. Many of our customers want to make a difference to the environment with their purchases, and we are pleased to say that 100% of the profits go back into wildlife conservation in Dorset.”

The DWT online shop also features the 2019 Calendar, Birds of Dorset, by local photographer, Paul Williams, 4 new Christmas card designs and a selection of of other gifts to suit all ages and interests.
