A MAN has been arrested and drugs seized following a raid in Bridport.

Police executed a warrant at an address in Bradpole on Thursday (November 15) at around 5.50pm.

During a search of the premises, a quantity of suspected class A and class B drugs were recovered and seized by officers.

A 41-year-old local man arrived at the premises in a vehicle during the searches and was arrested on suspicion of possessing a class A drug with intent to supply, possession of class A and class B drugs and driving offences.

He has been released under investigation while officers continue their enquiries.

Police Constable Jake Woodbridge, of Bridport Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Our local officers are committed to disrupting the activity of suspected drug dealers in the town and regularly carry out proactive operations as part of these efforts.

“We are focused on working with our partner agencies and the local community to act on any concerns people have in relation to reported drug-related activity.

“I would urge residents in the town to tell us about any suspected drug dealing, drug use or related criminal activity so we can act on that information.”

Cllr Keith Day welcomed the news of the successful raid and would like to see it educate young people to stay away from drugs.

He said: “More power to the elbow of the police.

“We are very pleased the police are carrying out their duties and we hope they continue to do so.

“They are the scourge of our young people and we need to educate our young people, where we can, to stay away from it.

“We also need to be able to give our police enough resources to enable them to continue to tackle the drug menace.”
