New Road on Portland has now open following a crash involving a lorry and a car.
The incident on the hill at New Road blocked traffic going to and from Tophill.
Police were called at 2.38pm to reports of the collision.
It is understood that the incident occurred near the Portland Heights roundabout and saw the road closed down to Fortuneswell.
Police say they have now recovered both vehicles involved. It is understood it is a minor injury collision only but the location of the incident meant that serious delays were caused on the island.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service have reported that crews from Portland, Weymouth and Dorchester were dealing with the collision.
Paramedics were also at the scene.
First bus service 1 was unable complete its normal route earlier this afternoon.
