A whole host of free, festive events is being prepared at Brewery Square in Dorchester this Christmas.

All the fun is kicking off this Saturday with lots of fun for the whole family.

A brass band will be performing from 4pm and the lights will be switched on at 5pm. A special guest singer will be performing from 5.40pm, followed by the London Gospel Choir at 6.30pm and a Father Christmas disco from 7.30pm.

Skating In The Square is back for another year as part of a packed schedule of events, operating until Saturday, January 5. Tickets can be purchased in advance from skatinginthesquare.co.uk

Christmas Time at Brewery Square is set to get all visitors into the Christmas spirit with a host of live music, mulled wine and roasted chestnuts, Skating In The Square, and the annual Brewery Square Christmas lights illumination.

Speaking about the event, Charlotte Spracklen, centre manager at Brewery Square, said: “We can’t wait to share our festive activities with our visitors, shoppers and diners! Our stores will all be participating in a late-night opening on the Saturday night so visitors can enjoy some festive shopping after taking part in Skating In The Square with the whole family, as well as enjoying live music, and some spectacular performances.”

On Thursday, December 20 a movie night will take place, showing the Snowman at 5pm, Freddie Jenkins is Michael Buble at 5.30pm and The Snowman and the Snowdog at 6.30pm.

Santa’s reindeer will return to the Square on Monday, December 24 from 12pm until 2pm to rest up ahead of their busy night and children can meet them and visit Santa in his grotto.

And finally, children and families can post their letters to Father Christmas for free. Template letters can be collected from the hut at Skating in the Square or downloaded from the ‘Events There’ page on the Brewery Square website and returned through the Square’s Santa Mail postbox. Children will receive emails back from Santa by Christmas Eve.

Letters will be accepted until Sunday, December 16.
