LYME REGIS 10

OKEHAMPTON ARGYLE 0

LYME Regis humiliated bottom-of-the-table Okehampton Argyle 10-0 in a very one-sided encounter in the Premier Division of the Devon & Exeter League.

Okehampton had been forced to play with some older players in their squad, but are rooted to the basement of the league currently with six points so far.

The match began as it meant to go on, with the Seasiders 5-0 up inside 23 minutes, and 7-0 up by half-time.

Ben Turner opened the scoring after 90 seconds, before Sam Jones bagged the second not long after.

Turner then notched his second and Lyme’s third.

Ben Vine grabbed the fourth and Gary Knight scored as Lyme raced into the 5-0 lead.

Jones then secured his brace, as did Vine to send the Seasiders into a brilliant 7-0 advantage by half-time.

Substitute Jake Bearpark then notched a goal shortly after coming on before Vine fired in two late on to finish up Lyme’s 10-goal rout.

Lyme boss Gerard Hitchcock said: “It was not the most difficult game in the world to be perfectly honest.

“It should not really be happening at the standard of football that we are playing at, you should not be playing and winning 10-0.”

Lyme travel to Cronies on Saturday (3pm).
