Personal trainers who have gone from one client to 150 in six years are launching a £120,000 new gym in Weymouth with a fundraising open day.

Marcus Biles and Mesha Moinirad from First Class Fitness aim to create 10 new jobs from the move to the state-of-the-art fitness centre at Southill.

They are holding an open day on Saturday December 1 from 10am to 4pm with the chance to look around the facility, meet the five coaches and enter a grand prize draw with proceeds in aid of charities for conditions affecting some of its members.

Causes will include Crohn’s and Colitis UK, of which instructor Mesha is a national ambassador after undergoing an ileostomy following a life threatening illness when he was 21.

The First Class Fitness gym, which is at Southill shopping centre in Radipole Lane, will be the first private members and specialist personal training gym in the area.

Former Weymouth College lecturer Marcus, who founded First Class Fitness in 2012, said: “Our focus is on helping people improve their lives.

“It is about taking a holistic approach all tailored to the individual and their own goals whether that is losing weight or dealing with a health condition such as lower back pain, diabetes a stroke, or a mental illness.

“First Class Fitness is very much a family where everyone is a name and not number. Our first client is still with us and we now have 150 members.

“We’re very excited about moving into our very own gym after operating out of other centres previously. We want to provide the highest quality facilities, which we feel our clients deserve, and match our quality of coaching.”

Mesha, who has been friends with Marcus since their time at Wey Valley School, was in an induced coma for three weeks with a 20 per cent survival rate after suffering a ruptured appendix. Doctors said that his healthy lifestyle was the only reason he survived.

He later took the decision of having a full colectomy and an ileostomy bag fitted. He now raises awareness nationwide and campaigns to help other young people in a similar situation.

Mesha said: “We are proud to be supporting Crohn’s and Colitis UK at our launch as well as Scope UK, MIND and the Stroke Association.

“We have helped clients with these conditions, and many others, so they are very close to our hearts. We hope to see lots of people come down for a great opening day.”

All First Class Fitness instructors are level 4 qualified – the highest level for personal training – and have university degrees in sports coaching, science or performance.

First Class Fitness is also accredited for GP Referrals and has a formal link with a range of local NHS and private hospitals/surgeries to help people with severe health conditions regain their health and fitness.

First Class Fitness provides individual personal training as well as in small groups and fit camps. Instructors also organise events for members, including trips to Tough Mudder obstacle course challenges.

It has received national recognition with sponsorship from leading sportswear brand GymPro Apparel, which will be attending the open day.
