A MAN has come forward following an assault at a supermarket in Blandford and is assisting police officers with their enquiries.

Police were called to an assault at the Morrisons store on West Street at 5.15pm on Wednesday, October 3.

A local woman aged in her 30s was hit on the arm with a metal shopping basket during an altercation with an unknown man in the Morrisons store on West Street.

He then left the store and rode away on a burgundy or black moped. The victim was not physically injured but was left upset.

Dorset Police launched a CCTV appeal to find more information regarding the incident.

A man has since come forward and is assisting officers with enquiries.

A spokesman for North Dorset Police said: “A man has come forward following an appeal in relation to reported assault at a Blandford supermarket.

“It was reported that at 5.15pm on Wednesday, October 3 a local woman aged in her 30s was hit on the arm with a metal shopping basket during an altercation at Morrisons on West Street.

“A Bournemouth man aged in his 50s has now contacted police and is assisting officers with their investigation. No arrests have been made.”
