An annual festive market event came to Portland last weekend to promote the wide range of local hand-made goods.

The Portland Christmas Craft Fayre is an annual event that was established for local businesses to sell their homemade merchandise.

Emma Ferguson, organiser of last week’s event, has been involved in the fayre for the last four years. She said: “The general consensus from the stall holders was that the event was well attended with lots of items sold and feedback from the public was that there was a good variety of stalls with high quality items.”

There were 35 stallholders from a variety of businesses including a local beekeeper with honey and beeswax items, ceramics, handcrafted Christmas gifts and decorations, textile arts, the British Sugarcraft Guild, and jewellery.

One craftsman who attended the event was Chris Ford, known as the Island Artisan, who sells sculptures he carves out of driftwood washed up on Chesil beach.

The event was attended by over 450 people who were looking for a Christmas bargain.
