A Christmas tree recycling scheme will return to Dorchester, Weymouth and Portland this January after raising thousands for charity last year.

Last year, Weldmar Hospicecare piloted a Christmas tree collection scheme in Dorchester and Weymouth and raised over £4,500 for the charity.

This year, the scheme will be returning and widening the collection areas to include Bridport, Beaminster and Sherborne.

As Dorset Waste Partnership no longer collects real Christmas trees from houses, Weldmar volunteers will collect your tree from you for a suggested donation of £10.

The scheme saves people the hassle of having to chop up their Christmas trees for garden waste or disposing of it themselves.

Christmas tree collections will be taking place on January 5 in Beaminster, Bridport and Sherborne and on January 6 in Dorchester, Weymouth, and Portland. All donations raised will contribute to the vital work that Weldmar does for the local community.

Weldmar Hospicecare is the largest independent charity in Dorset. They provide end of life care for people living in the county who need specialist support.

All of their care is free and reliant on public donations as 75% of their funds are raised thanks to the support of their local community.
