PORTLAND Town Council will pay £490 to change its registered address.
It comes after the council moved its offices to Three Yards Close.
At a finance meeting on Wednesday councillors were urged to pay for their address to be changed.
Interim Town Clerk Wayne Lewis said that the council couldn’t risk confidential information being sent to the former council offices.
He explained: “If it turns into residential you can’t rely on an individual reading HMRC or bank statements.”
He added: “It’s not a risk you can take as a public body.”
