A speeding driver who drove at almost double the limit on a quiet rural road has appeared before the courts.
Paul Holmes, 60, was behind the wheel of his VW panel van when he was caught driving at 55 miles per hour in Milton Road, Milborne St Andrew on May 1.
The speed limit on that stretch is 30mph.
Holmes, of Brampton Road in Poole, was convicted of exceeding a 30mph speed limit in contravention of a local traffic order at Poole Magistrates' Court on November 28.
The defendant was fined £200 and ordered to pay a £30 surcharge and £85 costs.
His driving record was endorsed with three penalty points.
Magistrates said they had taken his guilty plea into account when sentencing.
