An outline application for up to 24 flats behind Goulds Garden Centre off Littlemoor Road, Weymouth is being recommended for approval.
The site, to the north of the garden centre, is for three blocks, each of two storeys, with parking to the rear. The land had been used for caravan sales and storage.
A previous application, for 36 flats in higher blocks, has been withdrawn after concerns were raised about the height and impact on the area by the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty partnership and the council’s urban design officer.
A previous application, for five detached homes on the site, was approved on appeal, in 2007, but was never built.
Weymouth and Portland’s planning committee, which meets on December 12th, is being asked to approve the outline permission and delegate approval of the details of the scheme to the head of planning.
