Three men have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and drug offences following an incident on the A351.
Dorset Police confirmed that the road between Stoborough and Norden was closed so that officers could seize a vehicle for examination.
A police spokesman said: "At about 2.50pm today, Wednesday December 5, officers stopped a vehicle along the A351 near to the Halfway Inn.
"Three men aged 26, 39 and 55 were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged supply of drugs and are assisting officers with enquiries."
The road was closed for a short time and reopened at 3.30pm.
