Dorset Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire at Portland's Youth Offender Institution.
The fire in a prison cell is the second in two days at the prison.
Dorset Fire & Rescue Service confirmed that the fire was already out by the time officers arrived on the scene.
A spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.50pm for a fire in a cell.
"One crew from Portland attended and found the fire out on arrival, so we just carried out a safety check."
Yesterday police and fire officers attended the YOI after a fire broke out in a female staff changing room, where a hidden camera was also discovered.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice confirmed the two incidents are not connected.
