Thirsty explorers on the Purbeck coast can now get hydrated at St Alban’s Head Coastwatch station, thanks to a donation of bottled water by Wessex Water.
The lookout station near Worth Matravers took delivery of a stock of water from the company, which supplies the area.
Phil Atlay, station manager and volunteer at St Alban’s Head, explained: “As a remote headland station we spend our time without a running water supply, but thanks to Wessex Water the watch-keepers will also be able to enjoy a stocked station and even the occasional tea break when incidents permit."
Wessex Water’s Karl Shaw, who delivered the bottles, said: “St Alban’s Head is one of my favourite walks so I was more than happy to help out.
"The NCI relies entirely on volunteers and gets no funding other than donations from the public, providing a vital local presence that can make the difference between life and death."
