A 46-year-old man has come forward after a CCTV appeal relating to a theft from a Weymouth nightclub.
On Saturday, November 3 a man stole a handbag from a Weymouth nightclub and used a bank card to pay for a taxi.
Between 2am and 2.30am a man picked up a handbag from a table at the Lazy Lizard on The Esplanade.
He hid the bag inside his jacket and left the club.
A victim's debit card was subsequently used to pay for a taxi.
Officers investigating the theft have issued a CCTV image of a man they wanted to speak with.
When the appeal was made, police community support investigator Alice Butler, of Weymouth police, said: “We have been carrying out a number of enquiries in relation to this theft and we have now obtained an image of a man we would like to speak to.
“I would ask anyone who recognises this man to please contact Dorset Police.”
Police have only just released details of this incident.
Officers have now said a 46-year-old local man has contacted Dorset Police and is assisting with the investigation.
No arrests have been made.
