A global company with a turnover of £20million celebrated its 18th birthday in style.

Medisave, based in Weymouth, was launched in 2000 by local business partners Graham Wright and Melissa Denton.

It started its life at the Jubilee Business Park, but later moved to Mercury Road.

Employees celebrated with food and glasses of bubbly.

As part of the birthday celebrations, the company officially opened a new part of its warehouse.

Medisave supplies medical consumable and diagnostics to both business and private individuals.

Some of the items it distributes include stethoscopes and medical uniforms.

The global HQ for Medisave is still in Weymouth and the company employs more than 60 local people, with expanding offices and warehouses in to the USA, Canada and New Zealand – with a warehouse planned in Dusseldorf for 2019.

William Adams, sales manager of Medisave, said: “We have taken on a lot of local apprentices. Some people have been with us for six to eight years now. All our workers are on a living wage.”

The founders of Medisave say they remain committed to growing and building the company to be an important local employer with real prospects and careers for locals – and a great place to work.

Mr Adams added: “That’s our focus. There are other places we could move to – maybe they would be cheaper – but we like being in Weymouth and want to continue in the town and contribute to the local economy.”

Customer service staff at the Weymouth headquarters answer over 100 phone calls a day, and there is now a media team and website designers on site.

Discussing how his company has expanded online, Mr Wright said: “We thought what other company is doing that? so, we looked into it and decided we could do what we do here but in the US, so we got a visa and replicated it.”
