A charity single will be released today (Tuesday) by a 13-year-old girl from Weymouth in memory of her stillborn sister.

Mersey Moore's single, A Song for Ferrie, will be available on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Music from today for 99p.

As reported, in the Echo, the song is dedicated to her sister Ferrie, who was stillborn in 2003. All money raised will go to Sands, the neonatal and stillbirth charity.

Mersey said: “My biggest inspiration for the song is my sister herself. Ferrie has been an inspiration for me in everything I do in life. I wanted to make her proud so I wrote the song, all for her.

“I want my song to help all other kids out there wondering why they grew up without a sister or brother. For when they never understood why other kids moaned about siblings, when all their life they’ve longed for one. For the families who never truly knew how to put their hurt into words. And mainly so I can help Sands prevent this from happening as common as it does. So they can help support the families going through one of the worst tragedies possible.

“One small donation can help change so many lives for the better. Every share, click and donation will mean the world to me and many, many others. Thank you.”

Daniel Brett-Schneider, Director of Fundraising, Communications and Engagement, at Sands said: “The funds raised through Mersey’s Song for Ferrie will help Sands fund research to save babies lives and ensure that any family devastated by the death of a baby get the bereavement care and support they need for as long as they need it.”

The song was co-written and recorded by Mersey's former choir teacher, David Payne.
