A £15,000 council grant could help Beaminster Museum fund a two-storey extension.
West Dorset councillors are being asked to approve the donation, which will also help attract a larger grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Trustees of the museum want to build into the courtyard to increase the amount of space for displays and to offer more room for families and local groups interested in history.
The total cost of the project has been put at £155,000, with a grant of £50,000 anticipated from the Heritage Lottery Fund and other, smaller, amounts from a range of other trusts and funds.
West Dorset District Council’s planning committee has already given the green light to the plans and it’s hoped that works will be completed by 2020.
A decision will be made at the council’s strategy committee tomorrow (December 13).
