Re: your article in the Echo on war games to be held on the Old Army Camp close to Mandeville Road.

War games involve the use of replica guns that fire hard plastic pellets that could put one’s eye out.

These games involve hunting one another which means the leave the camp firing their guns.

There has already been an incident involving a horse and rider where someone jumped out with a gun, making the horse rear and unseating the young rider who almost fell on to the road.

These sort of games should not be played near houses and people who often walk by the camp with children.

I see it has been suggested they hold these games on a Sunday with no more than 24 people, that’s a lot of noisy guns going off.

Sunday is a religious day when people go to church, and relax in their gardens peacefully.

Then there is the matter of livestock ie horses, cats and dogs, also wildlife.

If these people want to play war games I suggest the join the real Army.
