A housing company has embraced the spirit of giving after donating £300 to food banks across Dorset and Somerset.

Magna Housing has donated money to five different food banks in the region, with the hope of helping people in need this Christmas.

Dorchester, Sherborne, and Lyme Regis food banks, as well as Quantock food bank and the West Somerset Food Cupboard, each received a £300 cheque from Magna Housing's sponsorship and donations budget.

Neil Bliss, resident and community engagement officer at Magna, said: "We support the communities we are based in and food banks provide a lifeline for people in need. We wanted to help them to continue the important work they do.

"Christmas is an expensive time of year for anyone, but for people who are struggling financially, the added cost of Christmas is very difficult. We wanted to provide Christmas treats for people to receive in their food parcels to spread some festive cheer."
