IN THE last weekend of rugby before the Christmas break, Dorchester’s first XV entertain Sherborne in Wadworth 6X Southern Counties South action at Coburg Road, whilst the A XV travel to Wheatsheaf for their Dorset & Wilts Two South fixture tomorrow (both 2.15pm).

Both sides are in somewhat different places in their respective league tables with the first XV sitting one place from the bottom and the A XV sitting at the top of their league.

Both will have tough games tomorrow afternoon and the first XV, who are beginning to hit some better form, will try and provide a big upset in beating currently unbeaten table-toppers Sherborne in front of an ever-hopeful home crowd.

With only three changes in the team to face Sherborne, the side is looking more settled and beginning to put in some better team performances.

Cameron Wills returns to the second row, Jamie Morgan comes back into the side on the wing with Josh Ovey taking over hooking duties from Liam Kershaw who moves to prop.

Tom Evans comes back into the squad on the bench for front row cover with Laurence Burch also adding impact to forwards from the bench, cover for the backs comes from the experienced Tom Gower.

James Baker moves out to the wing putting George Foot and Callum King as the centre partnership, the side will be hoping to challenge Sherborne in all areas across the pitch, and looking to cause a huge upset to the unbeaten top-of-the-table outfit.

The A XV take a very strong squad away to Wheatsheaf.

Leading with a powerful front row consisting of Joe Prior, Harry Dunning and Chris Elliott, the first-team experience of both Lee King and Greg Hallett will prove valuable in the forwards along with the speed in the backs provided by Jack Ward, James McKendry and Jed Gravelle.

Nick Lorimer adds weighty cover from the bench for the forwards.

The club will be looking for something to celebrate at its annual Christmas party in the evening with everyone welcome to attend, Christmas jumpers being the order of the day.

Sunday morning the mini section play host to North Dorset, with the under-7s – under-12s locking horns with their close rivals. The under-13s take on Bournemouth in a Dorset & Wilts cup fixture, whilst the under-14s welcome Sherborne in a cup fixture also.

The Colts are in action in the afternoon against a visiting Sherborne side. Kick off is at 2pm.
