Police are hunting for a driver who failed to stop after a crash in Weymouth this morning.

Shortly before 9am, (Wednesday, December 19), two cars were involved in a crash on the mini roundabout at the junction of Dorchester Road and Littlemoor Road at Broadwey.

The crash involved a red Nissan Juke and a 'black vehicle' which drove off from the scene. 

The black car reportedly sustained significant front end damage.

The female driver of the Nissan sustained injuries in the crash but they were not believed to be serious.

South Western Ambulance Service attended with an ambulance and two rapid response vehicles and the driver was taken to hospital as a precaution. 

The road was partially blocked following the crash but police said the road was cleared before 10am. 

Officers investigating a fail-to-stop collision in are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward. 

Police Sergeant Geraint Butler, of Weymouth police, said: “We are carrying out an investigation to identify the black vehicle involved and I am appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident or who comes across a black vehicle that has sustained significant damage in unexplained circumstances.”
