I had been cursing the badger who continues to dig deep holes in my lawn overnight, while respecting its need to search for food and being secretly fond of badgers anyway.

Like Dr Graham Lambert (Echo, December 24) I am horrified at the extent of the badger cull and even more horrified if they are being maimed, rather than killed.

Shall I have to regard my nightly excavator as an endangered species soon?
