This pair of promising young dancers are part of a dance school that has enjoyed phenomenal success since opening its doors a year ago.

First Class Dance School teaches ballroom and Latin dance to children and adults at studios in Weymouth, Dorchester and Bridport.

Since September 2017, the school has been running several classes a week for adult beginners as well as technique workshops for experienced dancers.

Throughout the year, the school has also trained two local children, Daniel Shuttleworth, 10, and Leanah Bagwell, 10, who recently took part in their first contest of 300 competitors, reaching the finals in every event.

Free class trials will be taking place through December in Weymouth for the new Children’s DanceSport team aiming towards medals, competitions and shows throughout 2019.

The school entered three adult students in October for their first medallist exams and all three students received honours, a very proud achievement for them and the school’s first medal exam entries.

Following his successful professional teaching qualifications and being one of the top eight candidates in the UK over past three years, the school principal and head teacher Peter Arnold was invited to make a presentation at the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing congress.

Mr Arnold said: “It is my aim that within the school, we promote the ideal of teaching students to do the best for themselves.”

As well as studio time, the school also engages students with online learning via the website Student Portal.

They also go on trips to Blackpool Tower Ballroom and the UK World Ballroom & Latin Championships.
