Police have issued a CCTV image of a suspect following an assault in Weymouth.
The 'unpleasant and unprovoked' assault happened before Christmas – but details have only just been released by Dorset Police.
The CCTV image is of poor quality, but it is hoped someone may recognise the person pictured.
Officers said at around 4.50pm on Thursday, December 20 the victim, a local man aged in his 30s, was punched in the face without warning as he stood outside Bon Bon newsagents in Queen Street. The suspect then walked away.
The victim sustained a sore jaw.
PC Rory Swinden, of Weymouth police, said: “This was an unpleasant and unprovoked assault. As part of my investigation I am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of the suspect and I would urge anyone who recognises him to please contact me.
“I would also ask any witnesses to please come forward.”
