A Christian conference will be held at The Thomas Hardye School in Dorchester next month.

Stay Awake will take place from 10.15am to 7pm on Saturday, February 16.

The day will be full of inspiring and encouraging talks, as well as various workshops to allow visitors to go further with Jesus.

There will also be praise and worship throughout the day and the opportunity to meet other local Christians and eat free Papa John’s pizza in the evening.

Jasmine de Kretser, aged 19 of Our Lady Star of the Sea in Weymouth, said: “'Stay Awake has come about from listening to God's calling and trusting in his voice and his prompts. For a long time, I have been wanting to run an event for the local area to unite Christians, to allow us to go deeper with Jesus and to learn more about God's word and truths. There had been no Godly promptings until recently when this changed and God's calling became clearer than ever. It will be a day where we can receive Jesus through Mass, praise and worship and spoken word. I have put this event in the hands of God and am allowing him to lead us in the right direction.'

Speaking at the event will be Jasmine's father Jonathan de Kretser, who is a local deacon and doctor.

Pippa Baker, a full-time missionary within the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

Father Jonathan Bielawski, a priest of 28 years at St Peter's Church in Plymouth.

Michelle Thompson, who is the diocesan evangelisation supervisor of Cornwall and Plymouth.

Michael Lobbo, who has been involved in Catholic church music for over 25 years, and Kathleen Swift, who will be leading a workshop at the event.

She said: "I'm so looking forward to hearing the talks and being a part of what the Holy Spirit is going to do at the event. Being a student, I'm fortunate enough to have time for different Catholic ministries such as the ASCENT, the Sion Community and recently the Catholic Student Network. I'm passionate about lots of things, but particularly discipleship, unity, social justice and ministering to those in doubt. (On a side note: if you get me started on films, tv or their award shows - I can get pretty passionate about them too!)"
