Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a café was burgled during the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to a statement "a large quantity" of alcohol was stolen, including rum, brandy and vodka.

The incident is reported to have occurred "sometime between 2.30am and 3am on Sunday January 13".

Police say the offender gained entry to the Pear Tree Deli & Café on Half Moon Street, Sherborne, after forcing open the front doors.

It is believed he was carrying a large 'bag for life' with black side panels and red end panels with a white emblem on it.

Police constable Shane Hewitt, of Sherborne police, said: "We continue to make local enquiries, including speaking to residents and businesses to see if anyone saw or heard anything suspicious, or who might have relevant CCTV footage available.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has any information that could assist with the investigation, to please come forward."
