I love watching dogs running about excitedly on the beach but what I don't like is the dog mess left behind by irresponsible owners.
Whilst walking along Weymouth beach, Sunday, I saw about six piles of dog mess, most of it trodden on by other dogs.
Lots of people still use the beaches in winter, including other dog owners, and some people do still sit down there.
A visitor who was fishing on Preston Beach just after Christmas, in the dark, dug his fishing rod into the sand and shingle, only to find it, and consequently his hand too, covered in dog mess after he pulled it out. Covering it up is not the answer and neither is leaving it for the sea to take away.
It's sewage.
Please, wherever you are, be a responsible dog owner, like most are, and clear up your dog's mess.
