THIS picture was the winning shot of an annual local photography competition, aimed at showing off the natural spaces in and around Weymouth and Portland.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, who ran the competition, have said thank you to everyone who entered the #loveweyportparks2018 photography competition.

The competition, which celebrated Weymouth and Portland’s beautiful parks and gardens, saw 114 photographs entered from across the borough.

The winning entry was entered by Sarah Colwell, from Portland. The competition was judged by the Parks Friends Groups, who support our parks and gardens.

They judged the competition without knowing who had entered the photographs and were very impressed by the high standards.

Ms Colwell, who also won the competition last year, said: “I am amazed and delighted to have won again.

"I love going to the park as the sun is coming up when the light is at its best for taking photographs of our beautiful gardens. I’d recommend an early morning trip to the park to anyone.”

Around 3.6 million people visit Weymouth and Portland’s 91 hectares of green space every year.
